Thought of the Week – 08/26/06

For those of you that know me, you know that I appreciate inspirational quotes, poems and stories. Life is a complicated journey, and personally, I believe one of the keys to success in life and business is learning from others and their experiences.

As Otto von Bismarck once remarked…

"A fool learns from his experience. A wise person learns from the experience of others."

Every day, I read, recite and remember a quote, poem or story that I personally believe is interesting, inspirational, character building, and worthy of attention. To this end, I am going to start sharing my favorites on this blog once a week. I apologize if they bore you. Certainly, these thoughts will be a little off topic for those of you that expect to learn about e-commerce, entrepreneurship, economics, and online trust. However, I hope you can gain an insight or benefit periodically as I do every day.

"Life’s Clock" is one of my favorites poems. Life is a remarkable, complicated, challenging journey, and perspective is important. Enjoy.

Life’s Clock

Life’s clock is wound but once and no man hath the power to know where the hands will stop at late or early hour.

To lose one’s wealth is sad, indeed. To lose one’s health is more. To lose one’s soul is such a loss, that no man can restore.

Today, only is our own. So live, love and toil with a will. Place no faith in tommorrow, for the clock may soon be still.
